Neil Maupay has been hailed by fans for his brilliant “s***housery” following his celebation after scoring a last minute equaliser to earn Brighton & Hove Albion a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park this evening.

The Frenchman ran onto a lobbed ball over the top of the Palace defence before deftly dinking it over Vincente Guiata to earn his side a crucial point against their bitter rivals.

Patrick Vieira's side were given the lead on the stroke of half-time courtesy of a Wilfried Zaha penalty and were expecting to pick up all three points before the 95th minute equaliser.

But Maupay crushed Palace fans' hearts and rubbed salt in their wounds by running towards them and cupping his ears to mimic Zaha's celebration as they shouted abuse his way.

And the Brighton striker has earned plenty of plaudits for his sheer lack of remorse and passion in his celebration.

One fan said: “Top s***housery from Maupay. Zaha crying.”

Another Brighton supporter said: “Maupay mocking Zaha and copying his celebration is s***housery everyone has time for.”

Meanwhile, another Twitter user was quick to point out similarities between Maupay's celebration and Leicester ace Jamie Vardy's infamous one against the south London side where he famously imitated an eagle.

They said: “Neil Maupay is up there with Jamie Vardy for world-class s***housery.”

Zaha even confronted his new-found nemesis for the celebration as the game drew to a close, having clearly been triggered by Maupay's insolence.

But the Brighton forward went on to justify his emotive celebration in the spirit of the “derby”.

He said: “I think football is nothing without fans and without involvement with fans, it’s a derby so everyone wanted to win, of course it was really really tough.

“When I scored I looked at Zaha and smiled at him and I saw him celebrating his penalty in the first half, he gave some to our fans.

“I won’t say what he said or what I said but you know how it is on the pitch between players, you give a bit of banter and I think it was a good time for me and for us after scoring last minute so perfect timing to give him something.”

Palace will be more frustrated that a great performance ended without all three points, especially following Jordan Ayew's one-on-one miss.

Meanwhile, a point for Brighton leaves Graham Potter's side in sixth place, only one point behind league leaders Liverpool.
