Victor Orta was one of the keynote speakers at the bi-annual Football Transfer Forum (FTF) at King Power Stadium on Wednesday.
The Leeds United director of football was one of a handful of key figures within the player recruitment industry to speak to the paying audience.
The Transfer Forum itself is essentially a networking event where sporting directors, heads of recruitment, scouts, loan managers, agents and others come together to discuss their ideas.

Orta was the first of the chosen speakers to address the audience in Leicester and was followed by Marcos Motta who played a big role in PSG’s deal for Neymar and the Foxes’ former head of recruitment, Steve Walsh.
There were over 30 clubs represented at the event at King Power Stadium including Premier League teams such as Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
Tony Sharkey, who is the FTF founder and a football agent himself, devised the idea for the event several years ago when he spotted a gap in the market at elite level.
“I knew I could do something which I felt was better suited to the needs of football,” he told 90min earlier this month.
“I attended a few events, such as Wyscout early on and there was very much something in the idea, but it wasn’t quite right for me.
“I wouldn’t say I was inspired or even had that sort of ‘lightbulb’ moment, I could just see what was needed and perhaps how something that could be tailored that was more suited to me and therefore the wider football recruitment audience in England.
“That was back in 2015 and it was two-years later when we launched our first event in Middlesbrough, and we have not looked back since.”
The involvement of key speakers such as Orta is one of the unique selling points of the forum as it gives the audience an insight into how some of football’s most important brains work.
Sharkey admitted that the Leeds director of football, as well as the other two speakers, were key acquisitions.
“I am delighted with the trio we have managed to get,” he said.
“Victor Orta, Steve Walsh and Marcos Motta are all wonderful in their own right so to have all three in Leicester will be very special indeed.”
With the January transfer window just around the corner, this could be a good potential networking event for Orta to lay some foundations for business in the New Year.
Attendees include Sporting Directors, Heads of Recruitment, Loan Managers, Head Scouts and European Scouts.
There is still very much a thirst amongst the fanbase for signings to be made after Christmas, especially if the Whites are unable to put further breathing room between themselves and the relegation zone.
